Bio

Hello! ¡Hola!

My name is Imari Mora and I am a Texas State University senior in pursuit of a degree and career in mass communication.unnamed

My experience in mass media includes hosting for Texas State’s Official radio station KTSW 89.9 and reporting for Texas State’s TV News Studio A.

As a host for KTSW my duties included taking audience requests, managing time while operating the board, conducting on and off air interviews and working as a team with all departments. As a Studio A reporter I gained experience with writing for broadcast including show scripts and packages, putting together news packages as both reporter and photographer and controlling the story flow for the live half hour segments as a host. Overall my focus with both outlets was connecting music, news and the local San Marcos community by serving the university’s growing population of more than 38,000 students.

My strengths also include using my formal and conversational knowledge of Spanish studied at Texas State and Tecnologico de Monterrey to relate to the Spanish-speaking and bilingual community.

Outside of my time as a student,  I currently work events as a brand ambassador where I am able to incorporate techniques learned from my studies by relating to an audience and professionally representing different brands.

My hobbies and interests are playing softball and lacrosse, cooking, beauty, lifestyle, mixology, painting, learning about new cultures and traveling the world!

My goal as a journalist is to use writing and mass media to objectively tell the stories that highlight the views and issues of the community with good ethics and moral journalism.
